Speedy Collision expands in Ontario with new Toronto location

By Jeff Sanford

Toronto, Ontario — July 16, 2015 — Speedy Collision recently added a Toronto location to the banner’s chain of collision repair centres.

Formerly operating under the name Garyray Collision, the 187 Toryork Drive location is a full-service facility offering body work, paint and refinishing. The centre joins the network along with its south Aurora counterpart, Aurora Auto Body Repair. Both facilities are owned and operated by Sandro Perruzza.

In an interview with Collision Repair magazine, Perruzza explained why he decided to bring his independent under a banner.

“Consolidation is the trend in the industry. The way I look at it, and I’ve said this for five years, we are where the hardware store industry was in the ‘80s,” he says. “All of the independent ‘Mom and Pop’ stores are going to a banner.”

Linking up with a larger organization only makes sense in a world of consolidated insurance companies.

“Being bigger than the one guy on the corner has its benefits. Speedy has the buying power, they can communicate at a higher level with any insurance company. They’re bringing you the power in numbers,” Perruzza says. “An independent with one, two or three stores has problems catching the ear of anyone anymore. If you’re a true regional player you can have those meetings and be in on those conversations.”

According to Perruzza, Speedy made it easy to join the organization, and he found that it was a perfect fit.

“They are not just putting up signs. Our DNA matches. As people they’re true to their word. I’m not saying the others are not, but I thought it was a good match,” he says.
