The 28th annual Enterprise Mobility charity golf tournament raised $160,000 for a Food Banks Canada program that provides food to children during the summer.
The tournament took place at King Valley Golf Club in King City, Ont. Donations and sponsorships included a $70,000 contribution from Enterprise Mobility.
Representatives from Canada’s insurance, collision repair, dealership and replacement-rental sectors attended the event.
The money will support Food Banks Canada’s After the Bell program, which distributes child-friendly food packs when school meal programs are unavailable during the summer.
The packs include shelf-stable foods such as milk, hummus, crackers, cereal and oatmeal. Participating organizations also receive funding for fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy products and protein.
“Events like this are a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together with our partners around a shared purpose,” said Jennifer Everett, vice-president of sales, replacement and leisure division Canada at Enterprise Mobility.
“The continued support and momentum behind this tournament allow us to expand our impact and help ensure more families across Canada have access to the food they need, especially during critical times of the year.”
National Hockey League players also attended, meeting participants and signing autographs.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car is the flagship rental brand of Enterprise Mobility and a major provider of temporary replacement vehicles through insurers, collision repair centres and dealerships.
Since the Fill Your Tank program began in 2016, more than US$125 million has been distributed to over 800 hunger-relief organizations in North America and Europe.
A $30-million commitment to Food Banks Canada through 2030 forms part of the program’s broader funding for organizations addressing food insecurity.
