Win for Winnipeg: Renee Sicotte recognized at WIN conference

Mvinjos

Toronto, Ontario -- Renee Sicotte of Marion Auto Body and Glass in Winnipeg was celebrated for her contributions to the automotive sector during the Women's Industry Network conference in Orlando, Florida.

The special recognition was announced during a Motor Vehicle Industry of Manitoba event celebrating apprentices and their journeys in the field.

According to Don Sobering of MVIM, Sicotte's win was hard won and well-earned.
"In the past there have been only five Canadian women to receive this award," he wrote in a social media post.

"I was truly humbled to be recognized," Sicotte said in a social media post published following the announcement. She emphasized her gratitude to MVIM for highlighting the collaborative work being done to support students and apprentices pursuing Red Seal Certification.

Sicotte's recognition stems from her extensive volunteer work supporting the next generation of collision repair professionals. As a board member of the Motor Vehicle Industry of Manitoba Inc., she has dedicated countless hours to mentoring students and apprentices on their path to Red Seal Certification.

"Volunteering in this industry has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career," Sicotte noted. "I share this recognition with all those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to lift others up."

During the MVIM recognition ceremony, Ian Rogers, Chair, and Joyce Sobering, Vice Chair, presented Sicotte with a floral arrangement to acknowledge her selection for this honour. Don Sobering praised Sicotte as "a very hard and dedicated worker helping the Students and Apprentices as they journey to Red Seal Certification."

Sicotte was particularly vocal about the role mentorship has played in her own career success, specifically acknowledging Joyce Sobering as her "mentor" and "guiding light."

"Her constant encouragement, wisdom, and belief in me have shaped my path in ways I can't fully express," Sicotte said in the post. "I often say I am the luckiest girl in this industry, having both Don and Joyce's support and love."

The Women's Industry Network's Most Influential Women recognition celebrates professionals who have made significant contributions to advancing the collision repair industry. The award highlights Sicotte's commitment to education, mentorship and professional development within the automotive sector.
