Hamilton, Ontario -- Staff at CARSTAR Hamilton Midtown and CARSTAR Hamilton Lockwood are celebrating a successful community-driven event that raised $8,510 to combat cystic fibrosis.
The franchise locations, which are both under the ownership of Peter and Kenneth Chavez of the CAG Group, collected the funds during their annual Soaps It Up car wash fundraiser, which is held to support individuals and families living with the genetic condition.
The event brought the local Hamilton community together for a fun-filled day of soap suds, car washes, and charitable giving. Volunteers from the Mohawk Mountaineers women’s basketball team joined in to scrub cars, while Hamilton Tiger-Cats mascots added extra excitement and smiles to the crowd.
Event-goers also enjoyed a variety of activities, including car detailing giveaways, ticket raffles for Forge FC and Ti-Cats games, a BBQ combo and refreshing real fruit ice cream.
In addition to the funds raised during the Soaps It Up event, the two Hamilton locations also raised money through an earlier CF Walk, bringing the total contribution to an impressive $10,718 this year for cystic fibrosis research, care, and advocacy.
"We are incredibly proud of what our team and community accomplished," said Peter Chavez, co-owner of CARSTAR Hamilton Midtown and Lockwood. "Every year, the Soaps It Up event reminds us how powerful local support can be. It's not just about washing cars -- it's about making a real difference for families living with cystic fibrosis."
Collin Welsh, senior director of Ontario Region at CARSTAR Canada, praised the Chavez family and their team for their continued commitment to supporting the community.
"Peter, Kenneth, and the entire CARSTAR Hamilton Midtown and Lockwood team lead with heart," Welsh said. "Their dedication to giving back and uniting the community exemplifies what CARSTAR stands for. This year's incredible fundraising result speaks volumes about their passion and drive."
