Toronto, Ontario — Customers will have to wait a little bit longer to get behind the wheel of the new electric version of Canada’s most popular pickup truck, as Ford issued an update that pushes back the F-150 Lightning’s rollout window to September.

The update provided by Ford representatives stated that production on the F-150 Lightning is now due to begin in June, thereby pushing back the estimated spring release into Q3 of 2022.

The highly anticipated truck has already surpassed 160,000 reservations, leaving many customers doubtful that Ford will be able to send out every Lightning before the year is out.

Rivian recently announced that they plan to start rolling out their R1T EV pickup truck in September as well, putting the upstart EV developer in direct competition with Ford’s F-150 Lightning.
