Hear This: 3M recalls 40,000 noise-reducing earmuffs over risk of cracking; 6,700 units sold in Canada

Toronto, Ontario — 3M is recalling approximately 40,000 noise-reducing earmuffs that could crack and lead to a potential overexposure to loud noises for users.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled product, 3M’s Peltor X4 Series Earmuffs were originally produced from March 2020 to September 2022 and sold primarily in the U.S.

An additional 6,700 units were also sold in Canada and are subject to the recall.

Currently, there are no injuries that have been linked to the recalled product.

3M advises that anyone with affected earmuffs should stop using them immediately and should contact the company for a free replacement.

Consumers can also call 800-243-4630 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT Monday through Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT on Fridays for any questions or information about the affected product.
