Washington, D.C., United States – On Tuesday, the NHTSA has placed a recall on 2016-2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport SUVs, citing malfunctioning anti-lock brake systems that could create electrical shorts and engine fires while parked or driving.

While Transport Canada has not recalled the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport SUV, it previously recalled 2017-2019 Santa Fe and 2014-2015 Hyundai Tucsons which suffered near identical circuitry issues.

This is the latest in a series of Hyundai fire risk recalls dating as far back as Aug. 23. According to Consumer Reports, this recall affects another 44,000 vehicles, on top of prior short circuit fire-related recalls affecting nearly 4 million vehicles.
