Windsor, Ontario — Another assembly plant has chosen Windsor as its next destination, with a South Korean battery casing firm establishing a factory to support the city’s growing EV infrastructure network.

DongShin Motech Ltd announced an investment of $60 million into the 15,794 square-metre manufacturing facility, which is expected to employ 300 people when the factory is operational. This plant will produce aluminum casings for Windsor’s EV battery manufacturing plant, owned by LG Energy Solution (LGES) and Stellantis.

According to the city of Windsor, this announcement cements the city’s position as “the premier Canadian destination for electric vehicle component manufacturing.”

“We’re competing and we are winning the race to attract investment, create great local jobs and build an EV battery manufacturing base,” said Drew Dilkens, Windsor’s mayor.

“Windsor will be the home of our first North American manufacturing facility,” said Choon Woo Lim, Dongshin Motech Ltd’s CEO. “We are pleased to bring our skills and expertise to Canada”
