Toronto, Ontario — July 15, 2019 – Eccles Auto Service’s open house and community fundraiser was a smashing success.
Taking place earlier this month, hundreds of local residents from Dundas Ont. gathered at Eccles Auto Service at 10 a.m. to participate in the Smash-a-Car fundraiser – an event where participants could smash a Kia and raise money for the construction of a local hospice.
Last August, technician Jeff Taylor at Eccles Auto lost his daughter Kelsey to cancer, so it wasn’t hard for owner and general manager Bruce Eccles to decide what charity to support through his event.
Margaret’s Place Hospice supportsbereaved families and works to create a comfortable and warm environment for its residents. But Eccles Auto managed to not only raise awareness for the construction of the hospice at St. Joseph’s Villa, but also raise a large sum of money.
More than $1,540 was raised, and the hospice is set to be opened by 2020.
“People know when they come to Eccles Auto Service, we aren’t just servicing their vehicles,” shop owner Scott Eccles stated. “We’re helping families and our community enjoy their best life.”
On top of taking a hammer to a bright pink Kia for cash, Eccles also showcased their new six-bay garage and hosted many fun games and activities for the families that attended.
“It’s a proud moment when you can bring people together for something that matters. To see even the little ones save up their allowance money and donate it in order to take a swing for a great cause, what more can you ask?” said Bruce Eccles at the event.
The event had such an amazing turn out that Eccles Auto plans to do it all over again next year.
