The People v. Parked Cars: Car flipped, stripped during party in Ottawa

carletoncrazies

Ottawa, Ontario — Not to be outdone by the kids down at McMaster, post-Panda Game festivities got out of hand in Ottawa over the weekend, as University of Ottawa and Carleton University students called Mac’s flipped car, and raised it with a flipped car—tastefully doorless. Checkmate Marauders.

Ottawa police have already charged three people in connection with the Sandy Hill street party that took place the night of Oct. 2.

Hundreds of students descended on Russell Avenue following the annual Panda football game between the Carleton Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees.

The party saw the usual amount of vandalism and general public nonsense for a university homecoming weekend, with the exception of the flipping, and attempted stripping, of a parked car. At least one of the doors was torn from the vehicle during the incident.

On Thursday, police said they had charged two 20-year-old males from Ottawa and a 22 year-old male from Haliburton, Ont., with one count each of mischief over $5,000 and participating in an unlawful assembly. Their names were not released.

At this point, Ottawa police have released the photos of 28 individuals who were present at the party and are alleged to have taken part in the vandalism. Ten have already been identified.
