Toronto, Ontario — Color Compass Corp. hosted an estimating training session at SATA Canada’s headquarters on Tuesday, where Training and Curriculum Coordinator for Color Compass Stefano Liessi conducted a hands-on workshop on estimating expertise.
The day began with a hands-on audit of an estimate, where 15 attendees were told to seek potential line items.
“We use this exercise to address industry-related key points,” said Tyson Anaka, key account sales representative for Color Compass. “From there, we addressed the points using the concept of repair planning to emphasize the importance of documenting line items and the correlation between them and time.”
The team then discussed the tools available for estimating in each business. They conversed about using the tools available by visualizing information related to an average repair order.
“In the second half of the course, attendees audited another estimate—this time using information we covered in the first half,” explained Anaka.
“After speaking with attendees afterwards, all of whom were experienced people in our industry, it was clear that everyone picked up a few different tidbits that will help them in their day-to-day business. Especially when it comes to profitability.”
Liessi received feedback from attendees who called the session incredibly helpful--especially in terms of ROI.
"The return on investment KPI for this group of shopowners just skyrocketed," said one attendee, Liessi told Collision Repair mag.
"If there was ever an instant guarantee for your ROI, this workshop provides it," said another.
“The important part of this training is to continue our mission and how we do business throughout Canada, as we continue to develop in Ontario,” said Darrin Heise, general manager of Color Compass. “It’s important for us to expand on Color Compass University in Ontario and beyond, as we’re we are rapidly developing and growing.”
Color Compass remains dedicated to training industry members—both Anaka and Heise sat in the upcoming Color Compass training centre as they spoke to Collision Repair magazine. Stay tuned for more details on when the facility officially opens.
