Winnipeg, Manitoba — November 14, 2017 — Mitchell International has opened a new office in Winnipeg to meet what it calls a “growing market base” for Mitchell solutions across Canada, particularly in the Manitoba region.

The office is located in the former Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) location at 420 Pembina Highway in Winnipeg. The centralized location has been set up to support the company’s sales and service efforts, and to take advantage of MPI’s extensive facilities for what Mitchell called “other customer-focused activities.”

“We chose to establish our offices in Winnipeg to leverage the strong collaboration between Mitchell and Manitoba Public Insurance in developing new solutions to support the rapid advancements in vehicle technology,” said Alex Sun, CEO for Mitchell.

He added: “Their strategic location and the strong economy means we can provide increased service to customers in Manitoba and across other growing Canadian regions, as well.”

Mitchell hosted a diagnostics-training workshop for Canadian insurance carriers at MPI’s new centre for automotive research and training at the J. W. Zacharias Physical Damage Research Centre, also located in Winnipeg.

John Gilmartin, Senior Vice President of Service and Operations at Mitchell International told Collision Repair magazine: “The central location was key because we are supporting customers out east, in Toronto and Quebec, and out west in British Columbia and everyplace in between. It was important to find somewhere with strong technology resources and a reasonable time difference. Another key aspect was our strong relationship with MPI, as we will be working with them to develop new solutions for the Winnipeg Province and the Canadian market moving forward.”

The office will be looking into creating new services around total-loss and augmenting vehicle manufacturer relationships. Mitchell will also look to expand the Winnipeg operation even further in the coming months, with the hope of adding five or six new employees to the team.
