Toronto, Ontario — June 19, 2016 — Jay Perry is well-known to readers of Collision Repair magazine as the founder of Ally Business Coaching and the author of the popular column “Who’s Driving?” He has recently turned his communication skills to a new venue as the co-author of an upcoming book on how to achieve success, not just in business but throughout your life.

“The obvious part is the business aspect, but it also applies to lifestyle and overall accomplishments,” said Perry in a recent interview with Collision Repair magazine. “It showcases some of the different techniques you can use in your life to get to your goals. It’s a business book, but it’s more than that.”

Perry has teamed up with Bryan Tracy and several other leading experts from various industries to release the new book, “Success Manifesto: The World’s Leading Entrepreneurs and Professionals Reveal Their Secrets For Achieving Success in Your Health, Wealth, and Lifestyle.”

The book will be published by CelebrityPress and is tentatively scheduled for release in fall 2016.

“One of the themes I touch on is how to go about organizing long-term planning and goals,” said Perry. “First you’ve got to define your overall goal, then figure out the stages that will get you there. Defining the goal is more complicated than it might appear at first glance. A lot of people say ‘I want to make more money!’ Well, what does that mean, exactly? How much more? By when? Say you want to have a nest egg of X number of dollars. First, you’ve got to figure out how much you want and how long you’ve got to get it. Then you can start to figure out how to get it.”

According to Perry, the main points are to be very specific in your goals and how you measure success, stay humble and practice active listening and followup is a key attribute that will keep people on track and improve your leadership image. Other key points include noting that procrastination is the downfall of many people and how you can help manage it, and that success is accomplished in small doses. A brick wall is built one brick at a time. Perry says that overall success is similar.

There’s one central theme that will be very familiar to readers of Perry’s columns: leadership skills can be learned. In an excerpt from the upcoming book, Perry demolishes the myth of the born leader.

“I think many times people buy into the ‘born leader’ theory wherein the idea of nature and natural abilities are given too much credit to instinctive or inherited abilities,” he writes. “I know it was true for me in my youth. It was promoted that there was a special class of people to which we didn’t belong, only ones that were privileged with uncommon abilities were allowed such entitlements. The reality of abilities is that the vast majority of what we possess has been learned. The fact is that over 70 percent of what you have as expertise was learned. Leadership skills are in the same class. Those skills are learnable by you and the people with whom you will surround yourself.”
