DONE DEAL

Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) has signed a new deal with the Automotive Trades Association of Manitoba (ATA) and the Manitoba Motor Dealers Association (MMDA). All parties have given the thumbs up to a new Light Vehicle Accreditation Agreement (LVAA) model, which is focused on meaningful consultation between the repair industry and the province’s public auto insurer.

The new LVAA model includes a standalone consultation framework to ensure industry associations continue to have the opportunity to raise ideas, discuss emerging trends and share concerns from their members directly with MPI on their behalf. The framework outlines the creation of three standing committees: Technical and Parts Committee, Glass Committee, and Program and Accreditation Committee, said MPI. “Knowing the association’s voice on behalf of shops of all sizes, from all corners of the province, will continue to be heard at the table was a significant component of this new framework for our industry,” said Johnny Vernaus, President, ATA. “I’m pleased to see the establishment of these committees and I look forward to productive discussions that will happen as a result.

“This model helps create stability for the auto repair industry throughout Manitoba. As we hope to soon put the COVID-19 pandemic behind us all, it’s an important time for many businesses to look to the future and this new structure helps our members do that with opportunities for our voices to be heard,” said Geoff Sine, Executive Director, MMDA. The existing LVAA expired on July 26, 2021.
