CIIA’s estimate writing curriculum for the collision repair industry offers a basic training program that is tailored to help shop or office employees, new estimators and insurance company staff who need assistance in learning the necessary skills to complete efficient and correct estimates on vehicles inside the shop.

The course includes an introduction to estimating, understanding vehicle construction, fundamentals of estimate writing, understanding collision manuals, tallying additional charges and collision damage analysis.

CIIA has announced two locations so far, with a two-day course announced to take place in Ottawa, Ontario from May 6 to 7. A second set of training courses has been rescheduled to now take place in London, Ontario on May 22 and 23. Total in-class instruction time for both courses is 18 hours.

Admittance to the training course costs $550 for members, and $650 for non-members. Prepayment is mandatory, and HST taxes are applied for each person attending.

Partaking in the course activates eligibility for four I-CAR points, while employers may be additionally eligible for a two-thirds course cost rebate.
