Madison, Indiana — July 8, 2014 — The Chief Automotive Technologies and Elektron booth (#20021) at NACE 2014 will serve as a one-stop shop for attendees looking to outfit their facilities with the latest collision repair equipment designed for modern vehicles. Chief will also offer attendees free training on how to properly repair these vehicles at two educational sessions. NACE 2014, the International Autobody Congress and Exposition, will be held July 30 through Aug. 2 in Detroit.

“Manufacturers are increasingly using aluminum and advanced high-strength steels in vehicle construction,” says Bob Holland, director of collision in North and South America for Chief and Elektron parent company Vehicle Service Group (VSG). “Properly repairing these metals requires new equipment and techniques. NACE attendees will see that Chief and Elektron can provide tools and training needed to prepare their shops for the future.”

At “Aluminum 2014,” an educational session led by Chief’s Ken Boylan, global training manager, and Richard Perry, global repair product manager, NACE attendees can learn about the latest repair, replacement and joining methods for aluminum components. Boylan and Perry will also lead “Design Based Repair,” a session focused on damage analysis and repair planning for late-model vehicles.

“Aluminum 2014” will be held Wednesday, July 30, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and “Design Based Repair” will be held Thursday, July 31, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

The Chief booth will feature a 20-foot long, wide-track impulse-E/VHT frame rack equipped with LaserLock Live Mapping system and new Structural Holding Package, as well as advanced welders and the MultiTool Aluminum Dent Repair Station from Elektron. With several discounts and specials available, Chief’s NACE promotional packages will provide opportunities for operators to maximize their equipment investments.

Anyone buying a full-size Chief frame rack at NACE 2014 will receive an extra pulling tower with 10 tons of pulling power for free. Each tower on Chief’s full-size frame racks can be rotated 360 degrees around the deck to provide unlimited pulling angle options.

When paired with the Structural Holding Package, Chief frame racks can be used to properly secure modern vehicles for sectioning or to evenly pull steel frames. Chief says the additional holding points provided by the Structural Holding Package make it easier to return a vehicle to OEM specs. NACE 2014 attendees can also add Chief’s F.A.S.T. Anchoring System for trucks and vans to the Structural Holding Package at half price.

Chief’s show specials also include significant savings on the Elektron MULTISPOT MI-100control T resistance spot welder, which features the what the company says are the industry’s lightest transformer pliers, the longest lightweight cables, and a high welding current perfect for working on high-strength steel. As a bonus, those buying a MULTISPOT MI-100control T at NACE will receive Elektron’s new MultiMig 511 MIG/MAG inverter welder at no charge. The MultiMig 511 is designed to help technicians weld aluminum as easily as they weld steel.

For those looking to upgrade to the latest evolution in computerized measuring, Chief will include a free tripod and $1 vehicle specifications with its LaserLock Live Mapping system. The tripod enables LaserLock’s self-leveling laser scanner to be used with a two-post lift for blueprinting repair plans, which can improve a shop’s cycle times. Since LaserLock’s scanner and tripod work with two-post lifts, the shop’s frame rack can be dedicated exclusively to repairs.

The Structural Holding Package, Elektron welders and LaserLock Live Mapping system are all included in the Ford 2015 F-150 Collision Repair Program.
