Paul Race has succeeded Ron Campbell as president of the Alberta Automotive Recyclers & Dismantlers Association following its annual general meeting in Calgary.
Race works with iPull-uPull Canada, an Edmonton-based automotive recycler offering self-service used parts and vehicle purchasing services.
The leadership change took place during the inaugural Western Canada Auto Recycling Show, held Sept. 25–26.
Campbell’s contribution to provincial and national industry advocacy was recognized in a tribute supplied by Wally Dingman, executive director of Automotive Recyclers of Canada.
Campbell has served on ARC’s board since Nov. 16, 2016, representing Alberta recyclers in national discussions for nearly a decade. ARC is based in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., and represents the industry through its provincial member associations.
Dingman credited Campbell with maintaining the connection between Alberta members and national advocacy while balancing board responsibilities with other commitments.
“Your commitment has mattered to your fellow recyclers, and it has not gone unnoticed,” Dingman wrote.
The annual meeting also included an election for an open member-at-large position, the association’s first such election in many years.
More than 150 participants attended the two-day recycling show, which brought together operators from Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
