Atlantic Aid: CAA provides help for Nova Scotia drivers amid the pandemic

Halifax, Nova Scotia — The CAA MyPace program is now available for Nova Scotia drivers and will later roll out to other maritime provinces such as New Brunswick on Dec. 1, 2020, and P.E.I. on Feb. 15, 2021.

“CAA MyPace has been generating a great deal of interest in the market, and we’re excited to offer this new program to the Maritime provinces,” said CAA Insurance president Matthew Turack. “Drivers now have access to an insurance option designed to meet the needs of their individual lifestyles and it puts choice and control back in their hands.”

The companies release stated that CAA MyPace, which is ultimately a pay-as-you-go insurance program, is ideal for consumers who are driving less during COVID-19. The program also helps those who normally leave their cars at home and take public transit, retirees who do not drive often and motorists who drive under 9,000 km.

When a driver signs up for the program, a telematics device is installed in their vehicle allowing the driver to track how much they are driving via a mobile app or website. Driver’s auto insurance premiums are also based on mileage, with a based rate and additional charges for every 1,000-kilometre increment.
