Toronto, Ontario -- Mercedes-Benz is inviting technicians using Autel's tools to take a peek inside its newer models and to perform previously restricted operations in the body control module, including ADAS calibrations.
The scanning and remote diagnostics company announced it has been cleared by Mercedes-Benz USA and certified by AutoAuth to access the carmaker’s enhanced security gateway on select 2021 and newer models.
The new capability works on any North American Autel tablet with an active subscription and AutoAuth account. It includes all the expected diagnostics like special functions, active tests and data analysis and ADAS calibrations.
“Autel’s goal is to provide technicians access to the latest critical functions to accurately and efficiently diagnose and repair their customers’ vehicles,” said Paul A. Marshall, director of product development for Autel U.S.
“With access to this enhanced gateway, Autel users can now perform additional services, including ADAS calibrations, on the latest Mercedes vehicles,” Marshall said.
The approval covers a range of models, including 2021 and up CLA (174 and 178), AMG GT (192), C-Class (206), E-Class (214), S-Class (223), SL (232), CLE (236), GLC (254), EQE (294 and 295), and EQS (296 and 297).
Mercedes-Benz began adding the security gateway to select 2021 models to protect its vehicles from cyber attacks and unauthorized access. It joins other OEMs, including Nissan and Stellantis, which already allow access through an AutoAuth-approved Autel tablet.
