Troubled Roads: CAA names Barton Street East worst in Ontario

Barton Street East in Hamilton is the worst road in Ontario in 2026, according to the Canadian Automobile Association. Hurontario Street, Mississauga and Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury came in second and third. 

Barton Street East was voted the worst road in 2022 and 2023, and Aberdeen Avenue, Hamilton, which was voted the worst road for the last two years, was not listed in 2026’s worst roads. Ontario’s Top 10 Worst Roads are as follows: 

  1. Barton Street East, Hamilton
  2. Hurontario Street, Mississauga
  3. Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury
  4. Sider Road, Fort Erie
  5. Steeles Avenue East, Toronto
  6. Sheppard Avenue West, Toronto
  7. Panache Lake Road, Sudbury
  8. Bathurst Street, Toronto
  9. Unwin Avenue, Toronto
  10. 6th Line, Innisfil

CAA’s worst roads campaign also includes the top five roads by region across the province. First place by region includes the following:
