Mississauga, Ontario — 2020 has proved to be a challenging year for all, so those who get the opportunity to celebrate some wins do so in a big way. In this case Kia Canada (Kia) crossed the finish line into the new year with record-breaking sales for 2020, despite the pandemic slowdowns.
Kia saw not one, not two, but eight months with record-breaking unit sales, (January, February, June, July, August, September, October and December) with August taking the top spot in being their best month ever in Canadian history. In total the automaker sold a record 72,452 units over the course of 2020 with the Kia Forte leading sales with 14,373 sold.
“During a year where Canadians were looking for vehicles that could not only meet their needs, but that they could rely on for quality and safety, we are grateful that we can deliver on products that satisfy both,” said Elias El-Achhab, Chief Operating Officer at Kia Canada. “We’re thankful for the incredible year we’ve had in 2020 and are looking forward to carrying this momentum into 2021 with the launch of the all-new, redesigned Sorento arriving in dealers now,” he added.
Throughout 2020 the automaker offered various consumer promotions including the “Kia Has You Covered” incentive where the company paid the first six months’ of payments on financed vehicles and the first three months’ payments on leases for some of their most popular vehicles. Other than the Kia Forte which was the popular choice of 2020, the company also saw the new compact SUV, Seltos, sell a whopping 13,271 units and the brand’s well-known Sorento sold 11,043.
Overall the company gives credit to Canadians’ for its record-breaking year and their want for a vehicle that delivers on quality, design and technology, not to mention a brand that has won top spot in the J.D. Power IQS report in the US 6 years in a row.
