Toronto, Ontario — July 14, 2014 — We’ve got great news. At long last, Canada’s techs, painters, preppers and detailers have a magazine to call their own. We are pleased to announce the official launch of the all new Bodyworx Professional.
The first edition is currently at the printer, but readers of Collision Repair magazine can get a special sneak preview of the entire publication here.
Bodyworx Professional celebrates technicians, painters and independent custom automotive shops, and engages the youth of the industry with exciting technology and helps to reinforce the aging skilled trades.
Published by the same team that brings you Collision Repair magazine, Bodyworx Professional is a unique magazine, dedicated to highlighting the burgeoning market for customization and restyling, and the accomplishments of Canada’s professional autobody technicians.
Mark Millson is the General Manager of Excellence Auto Body in Toronto, Ont. A professional body technician and former WorldSkills competitor, Millson believes that Bodyworx Professional may help serve as a guide for young people getting into the business and for seasoned professionals to help plan their careers.
“I think the launch of Bodyworx is a great idea. It should serve to help junior and even senior techs know where the opportunities are to build their career. Techs can help the industry as a whole to be better. It’s not just up to the shop owners,” says Millson.

The first issue of Bodyworx Professional is now available. In its pages, you’ll find articles on why mentors matter, how to plan your career, and tech tips from other pros. In addition, there’s no shortage of articles that are sure to catch your eye and interest: an inside look at the Guild of Automotive Restorers, a guide to painting basic flame effects, and much, much more.
Leanne Jefferies is the Director of CCIF Skills Programs. In that position, she’s on the front lines of recruiting and retention for the entire industry.
“I think it’s a great idea. Bodyworx Professional could be a great resource for two reasons,†says Jefferies. “For both seasoned professionals and technicians who are just entering the industry, a magazine of this type will provide a sense of pride in their work. They can take it to friends and family and say, ‘see, this is what I do.’ From a promotional standpoint, having a publication that speaks directly to technicians and painters will really help us attract the attention of young people considering entering the industry.â€
