Think Thick: MPI publishes infographic on ice safety for drivers

Winnipeg, Manitoba — Canadians have the bad habit of treating frozen bodies of water as a direct challenge to their freedom—Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) is attempting to push back against this notion with a warning to drivers to always take note of ice thickness when heading out onto frozen surfaces this winter.

According to MPI, 65 people drown after falling through ice every year, and that no ice surface is 100 percent safe.

The public insurer attached an infographic to its press release, illustrating the levels of danger posed by varying degrees of ice thickness.
