Willkommen to the Big Leagues: Automechanika Frankfurt returns with 78,000 attendees

Frankfurt, Germany — The biannual Automechanika Frankfurt auto show wrapped up its five-day stay in Germany’s financial capital on Friday, closing out nearly a full week of presentations and demonstrations on the latest tips and techniques the international auto industry has to offer.

Drawing in some of the biggest brands the industry has to offer, including some familiar faces in Rexall, ProSpot and SATA to name a few, this year’s Automechanika trade show delivered in the way we have come to expect from the world’s largest automotive event.

“It was great to be back at Automechanika after two years,” said Ron Olsson, founder of Pro Spot International. “We had time to visit with all of our international OEM contacts and I was impressed to see how many visitors we had from all over the world. Countries that I haven’t seen represented here at Automechanika in years were here this year!”

Olsson said his team noticed some big trends in the automotive welding world.

I’m seeing big innovations in welding technology, largely due to the materials we have to weld through,” he told Collision Repair. ” The various new metals, coatings and adhesives have made us develop better and smarter algorithms to make the required welds in order to return the materials to pre-accident condition.”

Among many presentations and product demonstrations were also some competitions that saw some of the world’s most talented painters competing in front of executives from refinishing giants like Axalta, Glasurit and SATA.

In a testimonial posted to the show’s website, Peter Wagner, managing director of Continental Aftermarket’s German division, said “Clearly, Automechanika is the industry’s leading trade fair. This is where strategic discussions are held at the highest level.

“We are both delighted and excited that this is possible again—because the aftermarket is transforming ever faster! Whether connectivity, data access, e-mobility or sustainability—there is a lot to talk about.”
