Toronto, Ontario — March 4, 2019 — The Saskatchewan Association of Automotive Repair (SAAR) is gearing up for its annual spring conference tradeshow this weekend.
The event will kick off with breakfast before jumping into a day filled with presentations from various members of the industry including, senior vice president of AsTech Frank Terlep, senior director for industry programs of the AIA Andrew Shepherd, director of business development of the Automotive Retailers Association of British Columbia Adrian Scovell, and more.
The executive director of SAAR Tom Bissonnette says he is expecting more than 220 people to attend the event at the DoubleTree Hilton. For people who cannot make it, the conference will also be streamed live on their Facebook page.
Bissonnette explained that in preparation for this conference he had sent an e-mail to the Saskatchewan Government Insurance director of appraisal transition project Ciaran Downes about the rejections shops are experiencing which ultimately have been resulting in delays.
“Things like denying clips or broken bolts that add up to pennies on a claim worth over $10,000 seem to be commonplace,” said Bissonnette.
“In addition, we had a claim recently where the shop submitted pre-scan information and was told not to include it in the file as SGI doesn’t pay for that procedure – turned out they were engine codes indicating that the claimant had driven the vehicle after the collision and overheated the engine cracking the cylinder head! The body job was finished the first week of February and as of this writing no decision has been made on how to move forward so the job will miss the February cut off for this shop.”
