Ribbon Cutting for CTC Markham: GM opens Canada’s largest auto tech hub

GM Canada's CTC Markham, the country's largest automotive software centre, opened on Friday

Markham, Ontario  — January 22, 2018 — On Friday, General Motors Canada officially opened the Canadian Technical Centre (CTC) Markham. Expected to employ more than 700 staff members, the site will focus its efforts on software development for active safety, in-car infotainment systems self-driving vehicle controls.

“CTC Markham represents a new kind of GM workplace, centred on collaboration, open design, and creativity,” said the CTC’s director Brian Tossan. “GM Canada is at the forefront of reinventing mobility right here in Markham.”

As Canada’s largest automotive testing and development centre, it joins GM’s other technological development centres in Oshawa, Kapuskasing and Kitchener-Waterloo. Next Autumn, GM will cut the rope on the Urban Mobility Campus, now under construction in Toronto.
