Callander, Ontario -- The Fix Network joined more than a dozen employers to participate in the Centre de formation professionnelle des Portages-de-l’Outaouais's 10th annual career fair.
During the event, network staffers met with hundreds of students studying for skilled trades careers in programs ranging from auto mechanics and auto body repair to health care, administration, construction and electrotechnology.
The Fix Network team at the fair was led by Jean Meunier, the company’s regional vice-president.
According to the Fix Network's social media page, the company's participation was meant to showcase the company’s brands and career opportunities, give its team members the opportunity to meet passionate young talent from the Outaouais and allow them to strengthen ties with partners committed to developing future professionals.
“A big thank you to the organizers for this refreshed edition, and congratulations to the students for their curiosity and enthusiasm,” Fix Network staff wrote in a post after the event.
The Centre de formation professionnelle des Portages-de-l’Outaouais, part of the Centre de services scolaire des Portages-de-l’Outaouais, operates several campuses across the region and offers diplomas and attestations in high-demand trades. Its programs are designed to give students hands-on training and connect them directly with employers. This year’s fair was intended not just as a showcase of opportunities but as a bridge between classroom training and the region’s workforce needs.
The franchise's participation comes at a time when the collision repair sector is facing a severe labour crunch. A recent Collision Repair survey found 92 percent of industry respondents believe Canada is in the midst of an acute shortage of collision technicians, with nearly four in five shops actively hiring and struggling to find qualified workers. The shortfall is most pronounced among senior body technicians, followed by painters and junior body repairers.
