Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will return May 14 to 16, 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, expanding to six halls as Malaysia positions itself as a regional automotive investment hub.
Organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the 15th edition will focus on AI, digitalisation, electrification, new energy and sustainability across the passenger vehicle, commercial vehicle and fleet segments. The exhibition is designed to facilitate trade and technology exchange across the automotive supply chain, serving both domestic and international markets.
“Favourable government policies, technological advancements, and shifting consumer behaviour have driven Malaysia’s emergence as a global automotive player, making it an appealing destination for international investment,” said Fiona Chiew, general manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. “With 16 Automechanika events in worldwide markets, the brand is ideally positioned to support the expansion of local companies by connecting them with global leaders for business opportunities and insights on best practices.”
According to organisers, Malaysia recorded the highest car sales in ASEAN in the first half of 2025, with Perodua and Proton representing 63 per cent of total sales. Rising car ownership, an ageing vehicle parc, digitalisation and increased demand for higher-value products are contributing to growth in both the OE and aftermarket sectors.
Recent national initiatives aimed at strengthening supply chains and advancing new energy vehicle development have also supported the sector’s trajectory. Programmes led by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority in collaboration with Hyundai Motor have focused on capability building and technology transfer.
The 2026 show floor will feature the return of the Automotive Mobility Solutions Zone, highlighting green mobility investment, advanced manufacturing technologies, electrification and digitalised supply chains. Organisers indicate the zone will also address emerging opportunities related to the low-altitude economy and cross-border collaboration in ASEAN.
An expanded automotive service marketplace will bring together detailing and customisation shops, body and paint operations, workshops, chain stores and retail and e-tail service providers.
The Collision Repair Training Workshop, including live spray booth demonstrations, will return with a focus on skills development and technology adoption.
autoFEST@KL will run alongside the trade exhibition, featuring networking events, vehicle displays, competitions and lifestyle programming.
