Hamilton, Ontario — July 11, 2016 — Negotiation tactics will be the focus of the next Guild 21 Conference Call, scheduled for Thursday, July 14 at 2 p.m. EST. The guest for the call will be Chris Voss, CEO of the Black Swan Group and author of “Never Split The Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It.”
Titles for business books tend to the melodramatic, but in this case it’s pretty accurate. Voss honed his negotiating skills far outside the board room. He worked with the FBI for 24 years, eventually retiring as the organization’s lead international kidnapping negotiator. His company, the Black Swan Group, specializes in solving business communication problems with hostage negotiation solutions. In addition to the FBI, his expertise draws from Harvard’s Program on Negotiation, Scotland Yard and the Kellogg School of Business.
According to an official statement, Voss’ negotiation methodology focuses on “Black Swans,” small pieces of information that have a huge effect on an outcome.
