Tesla's robotaxi service to launch
Tesla is launching a robotaxi service in Austin, Texas. Riders will be able to enjoy a silent ride as the company is doing without a safety driver. The service will be provided by about 10 to 20 Model Y vehicles using the brand's supervised full self-driving system and supplemented by human teleoperators. Tesla isn't the only company seeking to bring robotaxis to Austin. Its Alphabet-owned competitor, Waymo, already has some in operation.
Colorado Electric Vehicle Owners Face Unexpected Fees Due to State Error
More than 3,000 EV owners in Colorado have received word they owe additional registration fees for 2024, stemming from a state error. The Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles said a programming mistake applied tax credits meant for fleet vehicles to individuals.
Robots on the Frontier
A hundred autonomous mining trucks are helping miners extract coal from a mine in the Inner Mongolia region of China. Developed by Huaneng Group, the electric trucks are powered by a 5G-Advanced network and can operate in extreme cold conditions. Each one is able to carry 90,000 kg.
