Windsor, Ontario -- Members of Canada's collision sector are being invited to the grand opening of a new, state-of-the-art automotive testing facility in Michigan.
The German vehicle testing and inspecting organization DEKRA is opening the Automotive Test Center of Excellence in Plymouth, Michigan on May 25.
The organization, which invested $31 million to construct the state-of-the-art facility, expects it to become a hub for advanced testing and certification services, with a strong focus on electric vehicles, vehicle cybersecurity and digital safety systems.
Announced last year in partnership with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Economic Development Corp., the 2,500-square-metre facility is designed to address the increasingly complex demands of the global mobility sector. The centre offers environmental simulation, high-voltage electromagnetic compatibility testing and certification services for connected vehicle technologies such as Apple CarPlay and CarKey.
It is also equipped to deliver advanced cybersecurity validation, including penetration testing at both the component and full-vehicle level. These capabilities support compliance with international standards like ISO 21434, UN R155 and the Radio Equipment Directive.
The facility’s official grand opening will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Attendees can expect a ribbon-cutting ceremony, keynote addresses, guided tours of the laboratory and a networking reception with DEKRA executives and industry leaders.
Founded in 1925, DEKRA is one of the world’s largest independent testing, inspection, and certification companies, with operations in roughly 60 countries and a global workforce exceeding 48,000 employees. The opening of this new Michigan facility underscores DEKRA’s commitment to supporting the automotive sector’s transition toward more connected, electrified and digitally integrated vehicles.
