Hunter Engineering announced four major enhancements to its HawkEye XL Commercial Alignment System in a press release on Aug. 18, including new magnetic adapters, a drive-thru configuration and software.
The HawkEye XL Commercial Alignment System employs long-range camera technology to obtain measurements in four minutes or less for trucks, trailers, buses and more, and has won the 2024 PTEN Innovation Award in the Tire & Wheel Service category and a 2024 MOTOR Top 20 Award. It also handles heavy-duty, medium-duty, light-duty and passenger vehicles.
The new enhancements include the following:
- Magnetic wheel adapters
Now available as an option for new and existing HawkEye XL aligners, the magnetic adapters attach easily to lug nuts in seconds, providing speed and increased wheel protection, with no metal spades getting between the rim and tire.
- Drive-thru sensor configuration
The new configuration lets drive-thru shops and OEM production skip repositioning equipment for each alignment, saving time and effort. The sensors have up to 16-foot-wide tower spacing to accommodate commercial vehicles while still offering the same long-range vision and field of view.
- New WinAlign software
Hunter’s latest WinAlign 18.3 software offers new target placement guidance to help the technician with aligner placement. Cameras can easily see all the wheel targets, and there is flexibility to perform thrustline and frame-reference alignments as desired.
- Latest-generation alignment cart
Technicians can store adapters and control the alignment system from the rear of the vehicle. The cart is completely untethered with a battery backup, allowing technicians to work without carrying a cable around the shop.
