Partnership Penned: AutoCanada and AutoTrader reach deal

Autocanada

AutoCanada Inc. is entering  into an advertising partnership with AutoTrader.ca, designed to standardize how inventory is presented across AutoCanada’s operations while improving performance tracking and digital marketing scale.

The companies outlined a focus on consistent inventory visibility and measurable outcomes as dealerships compete for increasingly data-driven, high-intent buyers.

“Our strategic objectives are grounded in performance accountability and disciplined capital allocation,” said Samuel Cochrane, chief executive officer and interim chief financial officer at AutoCanada.

“AutoTrader’s leadership position in the Canadian market, its ability to consistently connect our dealerships with highly engaged car shoppers, and its continued investment in innovation and technology align directly with how we operate. This agreement reflects a shared commitment to measurable results and long-term value creation across our dealership network.”

AutoTrader’s platform integrates AI-powered tools aimed at improving how listings are surfaced to shoppers, with the stated goal of strengthening demand matching and providing clearer performance insights for retailers. The system is structured to adapt to dealership size and growth stage, allowing national groups such as AutoCanada to apply a more centralized approach to online merchandising.

AutoCanada operates 64 franchised dealerships in Canada across 23 brands and eight provinces, alongside 33 collision centres supported by 26 OEM certifications covering 37 brands. The group reported approximately 71,000 new and used retail vehicle sales in 2025 within its Canadian operations.

The partnership lands as dealership groups continue to consolidate digital retail strategies, placing greater emphasis on platform-driven customer acquisition and standardized marketing execution across multi-location networks.
