Toronto, Ontario -- Volvo Car Financial Services is launching an independent insurance agency in the U.S., offering customers tailored coverage, repair access across the U.S. and a simplified digital quoting process.
The initiative, called Volvo Car Insurance Services, will initially be available in 18 states, including Alabama, Arizona, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont and Wyoming. Volvo says it plans to eventually expand into more markets.
The automaker says the new service provides a “seamless” ownership experience and is fully integrated into Volvo’s digital ecosystem, including the Volvo Cars app.
Policies are underwritten by major carriers such as Nationwide, Progressive, The Hartford and Travelers. Customers can shop for auto, home, umbrella and select specialty products while comparing coverage and pricing, Volvo says.
Tony Nicolosi, president and chief executive officer mk. of Volvo Car Financial Services, says the offering extends the brand’s focus on safety and simplicity. “This expanded offering combines a seamless digital experience with flexible, personalized coverage options, supported by licensed insurance agents who provide expert, transparent guidance, creating a new standard for what customers should expect from automotive insurance,” Nicolosi says in a release.
The company adds that licensed agents provide personalized support and knowledge on coverage options specific to each Volvo, which may include the option to use Volvo Genuine Parts. Volvo notes that access depends on carrier selection, as not all insurers offer an OEM parts endorsement. Carrier availability also varies by state and policy selection, and is subject to change.
The launch follows a similar move from American Honda Motor Co., which in July established Honda Insurance Solutions for Honda and Acura customers.
At the time of publication, it is not clear if Volvo plans to expand the insurance program into Canada; Collision Repair Magazine has reached out for comment but has not yet received a response.
