Haitas has been named regional vice-president for the Ontario East Region while Smith joins the Edmonton-based dealership and collision repair group as regional vice-president for Southwestern Ontario.
Haitas assumes the Ontario East role after serving as general manager of Subaru of Hamilton. AutoCanada officials stated he brings operational experience and a proven track record within the organization in a press release.
Smith joins AutoCanada after more than five years with Leavens Automotive Group, where he most recently served as vice-president of operations. In that role, he oversaw seven dealerships and more than 300 employees.
Earlier in his career, he held a series of sales and market planning positions with BMW Group Canada, including regional sales manager for Central Canada, before becoming general sales manager at BMW and MINI London. He also taught in the Business Foundations Program at Western University's Ivey Business School.
“Excited to share that I've joined AutoCanada as regional vice-president, Southwestern Ontario,” Smith wrote. “Leading operations across multiple rooftops in Southwestern Ontario — overseeing GMs and store teams across some of Canada's most recognized automotive brands.”
The appointments come weeks after AutoCanada expanded its collision repair operations through the acquisitions of Contemporary Coachworks in Calgary and Mascarin Collision Centre in Thunder Bay. The group now operates 36 collision centres alongside 64 franchised dealerships across Canada.
