
Toronto, Ontario – Collision Repair magazine and Media Matters are saddened to report that Ellen Smith, a longtime sales representative for the company, has died.
“Ellen was a natural at connecting people—clients, colleagues, and audiences alike,” said Darryl Simmons, publisher of Collision Repair and CEO of Media Matters. “Her strategic mind, sharp instinct for marketing and genuine care for her clients made her not just a trusted advisor, but a true partner. She played a key role in shaping our business, and her impact will be felt for years to come.”
“She was always willing to help and share her knowledge. Her gift was helping people. She cared so much about everyone. All who knew her knew they could rely on her, no matter what the cause," said Gloria Mann, VP of industry relations for Media Matters. “She persevered, always. She was truly one of the strongest people I've had the pleasure of meeting."
“Ellen was always a shining light of positivity,” said Allison Rogers, editor of Collision Repair. “She was always smiling and a pure beam of sunshine, no matter the circumstances. Her optimistic attitude and friendliness were always refreshing. I never left a meeting with Ellen feeling down—she had a supreme way of making the best of any situation. She will be dearly missed.”
“Ellen was always so passionate about her clients, friends and family,” said Cassie Doyle, Media Matters’ digital operations manager. “She made sure to check in on everyone to see how they were doing and never forgot to send one of her signature ecards to mark a special event. It was a pleasure to work with her and she will not be soon forgotten.”
“Ellen Smith will not be soon forgotten,” said Gideon Scanlon, a Collision Repair contributor and the magazine's former editor. “She was the sort of person who never forgot a birthday, a milestone or a moment that mattered in her colleagues' lives.
“Whenever they needed help, she gave her time without complaint. Her warmth, generosity and unwavering ability to make anyone she spoke with feel interesting and special will be sorely missed.”
