New and Exorbitant: Freshly-released Tesla FSD beta accompanied by price hike

Toronto, Ontario – Tesla has launched a new Full-Self-Driving (FSD) beta patch, further refining the performance of Tesla’s controversial automated driving system and the cost of entry for Tesla owners considering entry into the FSD beta.

According to 10.69 FSD beta patch release notes published by Not a Tesla App, the beta improved several elements in the autopilot’s predictive network. In particular, they cited the AI’s ability to safely address Chuck Cook style unprotected left turns.”

In a recent YouTube video, Cook breaks down the FSD performance, citing improvements in the vehicle’s ability to navigate unprotected intersection turns. Notably, he cites the vehicle’s ability to safely navigate scenarios that challenge the average driver.

However, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, announced a price hike minutes after announcing the launch of patch 10.69. In a Twitter post, he said that the price of entering the FSD beta in North America would increase to US$15,000 after the launch of beta patch 10.69.2 on September 5.

While Musk did not provide any Canadian prices, Drive Tesla Canada anticipates that the cost of FSD will increase from $12,800 to somewhere around $16,000. In an unlikely worst-case scenario with a straight USD to CAD conversion, FSDs in Canada could cost over $19,000.
