Lambo, Aston Martin drivers have the best safety record

Toronto, Ontario — November 15, 2013 — In Canada, Lamborghini and Aston Martin drivers are the safest on the road with 71 per cent of them holding a clean driving record free of tickets, claims and accidents, higher than the national average at 53 per cent, according to a recent report by KANETIX.

The study compared driving history with 10 car makes to see if the vehicle Canadians drive really does have an impact on how they drive it. In fact, only five per cent of Aston Martin drivers and seven per cent of Lamborghini drivers have been in an accident in the last two years. Kia drivers report the highest number of accidents, with 15 per cent having been in an accident in the same timeframe.

“Our report shows that there is a correlation between the type of car that you drive, and the way that you drive it,” says Janine White, vice president, Marketplaces, KANETIX. “While we don’t expect people will change the kind of car they drive to be safer on the road, we do hope that these findings will help us all be a little bit more conscious of the way they drive.”

When it comes to tickets, Infinity drivers lead the pack with 29 per cent having received a ticket in the past two years versus the average of 22 per cent. Lamborghini drivers seem to be obeying the rules of the road with only 16 per cent receiving a ticket.

Other findings from the report include, the drivers who are the most likely to follow the rules of the road:

• Lamborghini,
• Aston Martin,
• Buick, or
• Toyota.

Fourteen per cent of drivers report having been in an accident in the past two years. Drivers of the following vehicles are more likely than average to report having been in an accident:

• Ford,
• Hyundai,
• Infiniti,
• Lexus,
• Mazda, or
• Nissan.

Twenty-two per cent of drivers admit to having been issued at least one ticket in the past two years. Drivers of the following types of cars are more likely to have past tickets:

• BMW,
• Land Rover,
• Lincoln, and
• Porsche.
