Hot Seat: 6,400 Canadian-sold heated seat cushions are being recalled due to a potential burn hazard

Toronto, Ontario — Thousands of heated car seat cushions sold in Canada are being recalled because of a potential burn hazard.

The recall covers AutoTrends heated cushions sold by Canadian Tire. Health Canada says 6,400 products were affected from January 2017 to May 2021.

Currently no injuries have been reported. However, there have been six reports of the seat cushion overheating.

The seat cushion has the following specifications: AutoTrends Heated Seat Cushion model number 032-0134, UPC 884406351207.

Anyone who has purchased the seat cushion should stop using it immediately and return it to any Canadian Tire for a full refund, according to Health Canada.
