Honda Canada Foundation Pays it Forward

Toronto, Ontario — July 19, 2019 — The Honda Canada Foundation donated $10, 000 to the Parkdale Community Food Bank on Thursday, while members pitched in and volunteered for the day.

At 10 a.m. the team from the Honda Canada Foundation arrived at Toronto’s Parkdale Community Food Bank, ready to reach out and volunteer to Parkdale’s families and clients.

According to the Honda Canada Foundation, the team “supports people and organizations that focus on our four pillars: Family, Environment, Engineering, and Education.” The Parkdale Food Bank has been serving Torontonians in need for more than ten years.

According to Jack Martino, co-owner of Martino Brothers Collision and Vice-chairperson of the Parkdale Community Food Bank Board of Directors, “the reason Honda [donated and volunteered]  is because they have been distributing Parkdale for the last 10 years with the Honda Race which closes the Lakeshore down. This is their way of paying Parkdale back in a big way.”

And in a big way, they did. Members spent four hours volunteering at the bank that serves up to 450 people a week, 35 percent of them being children. And it went off without a hitch.

“The Parkdale Food Bank is so pleased for this wonderful participation from The Honda Canada Foundation’s generosity, and we are looking forward to working with them for the betterment of our community,” stated Martino.

The Parkdale Community Food Bank is open to the public Wednesday’s through Saturdays, for more information, click here.
