PPG has unveiled a new automated stirring system designed to streamline paint-mixing processes in collision repair facilities.

The PPG Mix’n’Shake system replaces manual stirring, delivering consistent, ready-to-spray paint mixes in less than 90 seconds. According to a company press release, the new tool “ensures consistent colour accuracy, reduces rework and boosts productive work hours by up to six percent.”

“The PPG Mix’n’Shake system addresses this, ensuring that painters achieve an accurate mix every time without the inefficiencies and inconsistencies of manual stirring,” said Alban d’Epenoux, global marketing director of PPG Automotive Refinish.

He added that repairers handling six jobs per day could save as much as 16 working days annually using the technology.

The Mix’n’Shake made its debut at the Equip Auto trade show in Paris on Oct. 14. During the event, PPG staff explained the system supports both waterborne and solvent-borne formulations and integrates with PPG’s Linq digital ecosystem.

It will be distributed in North America under the SEM brand.
