Hamilton, Ontario – The team at Waterdown Collision is teaming up with the local community to take on cystic fibrosis.
This spring, their shop raised more than $5,000 for Dante’s Journey to the Cure, a long-running family initiative in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. The money was raised through a seasonal tire swap fundraiser at the facility.
“Our team and work family at Waterdown Collision have been actively raising funds for Dante's Journey to the Cure with our Tire Swap Fundraiser. To date they've raised $5,000+ for Cystic Fibrosis Canada this spring!” the family wrote in a message to supporters.
Founded more than 17 years ago, Dante’s Journey to the Cure was launched by Waterdown Collision founders Domenic and Margaret DeFelice to support their son Dante and others living with cystic fibrosis. So far, it has raised more than $285,000 for cystic fibrosis research.
Supporters are also invited to join the DeFelice family at this year’s Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History, taking place Sunday, May 25 at Hamilton’s Bayfront Park. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the walk starting at 10. After the walk, participants are invited back to the family’s home for a barbecue.
“Dante and our family would like to personally invite all of you to the annual Cystic Fibrosis Walk followed by a BBQ back at our home,” the message continues. “Please let us know if you are available to attend.”
“Lastly — we ask you to consider donating to our family charity,” the message reads. “As always, we could not do this without our friends and family, we are truly blessed for all your support.”
Donations to the charity are eligible for tax receipts.
