Ford’s Robert Fascetti kicks off packed 2014 I-CAR conference

Detroit, Michigan — June 16, 2014 — The 2014 I-CAR Conference powers up on the morning of July 30 with a world-class lineup of speakers.

The day opens with a high-impact Ford session that leads off with our keynote speaker, Robert J. Fascetti, VP of Powertrain Engineering at Ford Motor Company, who will present his insights on vehicle optimization and the CAFE challenge.

For more than 25 years, Fascetti has been a notable figure in powertrain and product development at Ford. Previously, he served as Director of Global Engine Engineering, where he was integral to make Ford a global leader in fuel economy and performance. The entire EcoBoost Engine lineup, as well as the best-in-class 6.7-litre diesel engine, were designed and developed under Fascetti’s leadership. The one litre EcoBoost Engine has been named the International Engine of the Year for two consecutive years.

Following Fascetti’s discussion, Peter D. Reyes, Ford Motor Company’s Chief Engineer, F-Series, will offer perspectives on the all-new, aluminum 2015 Ford F-150.

Closing the first session, Paul H. Massie, Powertrain & Collision Product Marketing Manager at Ford Motor Company, will share his expert knowledge of Ford’s enhanced Collision Repair Service Strategy.

The second morning session picks up with further discussion about one of the industry’s most buzzworthy topics: lightweighting.

The session begins with a look at the lightweighting challenge and the role of carbon fibre, led by Raymond G. Boeman, Ph.D. – Program Director of Energy Partnerships and Energy and Environmental Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Next up, Ronald P. Krupitzer, VP of Automotive Applications at Steel Market Development Institute, will share his subject matter expertise regarding advancements in steel.

To conclude the morning session, Randall Scheps, Marketing Director of Automotive Sheet at Alcoa, will provide a preview of the expanding role of aluminum. These sessions and speakers will provide critical information and understanding for anyone trying to stay ahead of the Technical Tsunami.
