Craftsman Collision vows to ‘Make a Dent’ in hunger

Team members from Craftsman Collision and the Salvation Army during last year's 'Make a Dent' campaign. Craftsman Collision has raised $217,276.42 in food and cash for the Salvation Army since 2009.

North Vancouver, British Columbia — September 27, 2016 — Craftsman Collision and Save-On-Foods are teaming up with The Salvation Army to do what they can to ensure no families go hungry this fall. They have announced they will hold a food drive on Saturday, October 1 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Craftsman Collision is pledging to match every item donated, which means that for every can donated by a participating customer, two cans of soup will make it onto a shelf at local Salvation Army Family Services units.

A statement says the Salvation Army has seen an increase in demand in every British Columbia community this year, as more families have come to rely on their services to put food on the table. On top of that, many food banks throughout the province have had trouble stocking the shelves, with fewer businesses and individuals being able to part with food donations in these difficult economic times.

In 2015 Craftsman Collision’s “Make a Dent” campaign raised over $40,000. Since 2009, Craftsman Collision has raised $217,276.42 in food and cash for The Salvation Army.

“We are hoping that our donations from the Make a Dent food drive happening this weekend will help us reach our goal of a quarter of a million dollars raised for The Salvation Army since 2009,” says Stacey Cook, Marketing Manager. “Craftsman Collision is committed to supporting causes that matter to our customers and our employees. It’s a great privilege to be in a position to make a difference in the communities in which we do business.”

Upon entering participating locations, customers will receive a shopping list of ideal non-perishable food items to shop for and donate. The hope is that when the drive is complete, each location will have donated enough food to fill a Craftsman Collision courtesy car.

All food donations are needed, but some items are in particuarly short supply this year, including canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, mac and cheese, peant butter, rice, Hamburger Helper, cereal, diapers, pasta, toilet paper, instant noodels, canned baked beans, pasta and tomato sauce and beans.

Donations can be made at all participating Save-on-Food locations this Saturday.
