Hamilton, Ontario — It’s no secret that big things can happen when a community works together in the name of positive change. The question is: how do you motivate a community to put in the effort necessary to make the world a better place?
Waterdown Collision, a Hamilton-based collision repair centre owned by Margaret and Domenic DiFelice, has found an answer to this question with their latest community outreach program, a partnership with Fozzy’s Fight to End Brain Tumours.
In 2019, Nicholas Foster–known to many as “Fozzy”–of Waterdown, suffered from a fatal brain tumour, his passing radiating painfully through his family and community. He was just 21 years old.
To commemorate the life of Nicholas, and to help others avoid the painful loss they experienced, Nicholas’ family started Fozzy’s Fight to End Brain Tumours, a fundraising initiative to support the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. A family member states, “With your donation, together we will bring hope. Hope through support, hope through information and education, and hope through research.”
Waterdown Collision identified a way that they could help motivate members of the community to donate to the cause by offering their services, free of charge, to those who donate 50 dollars or more to Fozzy’s Fight to End Brain Tumours. Donors will receive a seasonal tire swap, mechanical inspection, and a car wash.
“As we reflect on our incredible loss and Nicholas’ journey, it is impossible not to feel overwhelming gratitude and love for our family, friends and community. The love and support Nicholas and our family received during his 18 month battle with cancer and since his passing, is nothing short of a blessing,” quotes a family member in a piece describing Nicholas’ fight with cancer.
