Checks and Balances: Uni-Select, LKQ acquisition passes antitrust requirements, awaiting U.K. approval

Boucherville, Québec — Uni-Select and LKQ say they are pleased to announce they have gotten the green light from the Canadian Competition Bureau to go forward with LKQ’s acquisition of Uni-Select, first announced in February.

Additionally, the waiting period mandated under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 has expired, meaning that Uni-Select has achieved the necessary closing conditions set forth in the arrangement agreement between Uni-Select, LKQ Corporation and its numbered company, 9485-4692 Québec Inc.

According to Uni-Select’s Friday press release, the arrangement remains subject to certain closing conditions, including the receipt of other applicable regulatory approvals, consisting of approval under the Investment Canada Act and clearance by the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority.

The company expects the arrangement to be concluded by the second half of 2023.
