Scott Sinclair has been promoted to director of I-CAR Canada, moving from business development manager into the national collision repair training program’s day-to-day leadership role.
Sinclair brings 38 years of collision industry experience to the position and holds Certified Association Executive, Red Seal and Blue Seal credentials.
I-CAR Canada is operated by the Automotive Industries Association of Canada and has provided collision repair training in Canada since 1978. AIA Canada has operated the program since 2010.
In his new role, Sinclair will oversee program development and industry engagement and work with repair facilities, technicians, insurers, original equipment manufacturers and educators as training requirements change.
“Scott’s extensive industry experience and leadership have helped him build credibility within the collision sector and among I-CAR customers,” said Stuart Klein, vice-president of collision programs and executive director of I-CAR Canada. “I have great confidence in Scott’s ability to guide I-CAR Canada through its next stage of growth.”
The appointment comes as collision repair training increasingly encompasses electric vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems and other technologies requiring continuing technical education.
“Vehicle technology is advancing quickly, and ongoing professional development is essential to ensuring repairs are performed safely and properly,” Sinclair said.
Sinclair takes a director position previously held by Tanya Scheidl. AIA Canada’s recent annual reports listed Scheidl as director of I-CAR Canada and Sinclair as business development manager.
AIA Canada’s Sept. 1 announcement did not address Scheidl’s status or explain the circumstances surrounding the change.
Late on Sept. 1, Collision Repair staff asked AIA Canada whether Sinclair is directly succeeding Scheidl, whether Scheidl remains with the organization, what prompted the change and whether Sinclair’s promotion changes the division of responsibilities with Klein.
The magazine has not yet received a response from the association.
