Toronto, Ontario – Ford is reportedly abandoning its previous plans to stock and distribute electric vehicles through regional inventory hubs.
According to online reports, this move comes after a pilot program—originally started in May 2024—failed to catch on among retailers.
Ford had originally planned to store unsold EVs at “rapid replenishment centers” and then deliver them to stores within two weeks of being ordered by a customer.
Furthermore, the system was intended to help streamline the distribution of the F-150 Lightning.
However, executives reportedly told dealers at the 2025 NADA show that Ford would be discontinuing the system and returning the Lightning to a traditional wholesale process.
