Allstate Canada’s Quebec study on distracted driving

By CRM Staff

Toronto, Ontario — July 21, 2018 — Allstate Canada has issued a disturbing new report on Quebec’s driver. The insurance company has discovered that nine every 10 of the province’s drivers are participating in dangerous distracting behaviours while behind the wheel. What is worse? Fewer than half understand the dangers this poses.

According to the study, more than one-in-three Quebec drivers read emails and texts while driving, the same number that scrabble under their seats to pick up lost items. Almost a quarter use GPS systems.

A few weeks ago, the provincial government issued new ordinances specifically designed to curb distracted driving behaviours. Whether these new laws will make a difference to road safety remains to be seen.
