Toronto, Ontario — September 10, 2015 — AkzoNobel has been ranked number one on the influential Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the fourth consecutive year.
The latest listing, published today, places the company first out of more than 350 companies in the Materials industry group, underlining AkzoNobel’s commitment to continuous improvement.
“And it’s something we should all be proud of, because it proves that putting sustainability at the heart of our business strategy is the right thing to do. Our consistently high ranking also underlines the importance we attach to working closely with customers to develop sustainable solutions that make an impact on the whole value chain,” wrote AkzoNobel CEO Ton Büchner in a letter to colleagues.
It’s the tenth year running that AkzoNobel has been ranked in the top three. The DJSI World Index benchmarks the sustainability performance of leading companies based on environmental, social and economic performance, including forward-looking indicators.
It assesses various criteria, including supply chain management, operational eco-efficiency, product stewardship, human capital development and occupational health and safety.
